Tomas Prochazka's path to construction was anything but traditional. Originally from the Czech Republic, he trained in culinary arts and restaurant management before eventually trading professional kitchens for construction sites in the early 2000s.

After meeting his wife, Kristi, she introduced him to Lake Tahoe—and Tomas fell in love with both. Since 2008, they have called Truckee home, raising two children and building a life in the community they love.

Over the years, Tomas has developed extensive hands-on experience repairing, remodeling, and improving Tahoe homes. His background in high-end restaurants gave him an eye for detail and a level of perfectionism that he now brings to every construction project.

Tomas is straightforward, hardworking, and not known for sugarcoating things. His no-nonsense Eastern European personality is balanced by honesty, humor, and a genuine commitment to doing things right. Clients know where they stand with Tomas—and they know he cares about the quality of the finished product.

Now, with their children grown, Tomas and Kristi are focusing their experience and energy on growing Bocko Construction and bringing their hands-on approach to more homeowners in both the Tahoe region and Sonoma County.

When you work with Tomas, you're getting more than someone to manage your remodel. You're getting a problem-solver, a perfectionist, and someone who takes pride in treating every project as if his reputation depends on it—because it does.

    Trevor Lorz

    CONTRACTOR/MANAGER - SONOMA COUNTY TERRITORY
    Trevor@BockoConstruction.com

Trevor Lorz's connection to both Tahoe and Sonoma County goes back decades. He and Kristi were high school friends growing up in Sonoma County, where they regularly escaped to Tahoe as teenagers to ski, ride, and enjoy the mountains they both loved.

Trevor eventually made the Tahoe/Truckee area his home and began building his career in construction in the early 2000s. After working for several local construction companies, he started his own business and went on to build custom homes from the ground up, including homes throughout the Tahoe Donner area.

Years later, Trevor and Kristi unexpectedly reunited at a local grocery store—both with baby boys of their own. Their friendship picked up where it left off, and their families have remained close ever since.

When Trevor and his family decided to move back to Sonoma County to support his two sons basketball opportunities, it created the perfect opportunity for Bocko Construction to expand as well. Today, Trevor leads Bocko Construction's Sonoma County District, bringing decades of hands-on construction experience and the knowledge that comes from building quality homes from the ground up.

Alongside his wife Melissa and their family, Trevor is excited to bring the craftsmanship, experience, and high standards developed in the Tahoe construction industry back to the community where it all began.

    Blake Bockius

    REGISTERED MANAGING OFFICER
    BBockius@Bockoconstruction.com

Blake Bockius is the original founder of Bocko Construction and the person behind the company name that has been serving Truckee and the surrounding Tahoe area since 1998.

Originally from Colorado, Blake moved to Reno to attend school and, like many who come to the area, decided to stay. After gaining experience working for local construction companies, he eventually started his own business. The name “Bocko” was inspired by a name his father had used throughout his own entrepreneurial ventures, and Blake proudly carried that legacy into the construction company he built.

With a strong work ethic, business sense, and nearly three decades of experience, Blake grew Bocko Construction into a successful and respected company serving generations of homeowners throughout the Truckee and Tahoe region.

In 2022, Kristi began working with Blake and helping support the demands of the business. After several years of working together—and hearing Blake talk about someday slowing down and retiring—Kristi and Tomas approached him with the idea of continuing the company he had worked so hard to build.

Today, Blake remains an important part of Bocko Construction as the company's Registered Managing Officer and a member of the Board. He continues to provide valuable experience, guidance, and oversight while helping ensure the company’s long-standing clients continue to receive the quality and service they have come to expect.

Blake's decision to transition ownership to Kristi and Tomas allows Bocko Construction to move forward while preserving the history, reputation, and relationships he spent nearly three decades building.

    Ian Dehart

    LEAD CARPENTER
    Ian@bockoconstruction.com

Ian Dehart is Bocko Construction's lead and most experienced carpenter, bringing years of hands-on construction experience to homes throughout the Tahoe and Truckee area.

Ian and Trevor have worked side-by-side for many years. As Trevor's right-hand man, Ian played an important role in building many of the custom homes completed through Trevor's former construction company. When Trevor moved on from the Tahoe area, Ian joined Tomas and Bocko Construction—a natural transition since the team had already spent years working together in the local construction industry.

Ian possesses a depth of construction knowledge and skill that is hard to find. While he is experienced in all aspects of residential construction, his finish work is where his craftsmanship truly stands out. From the structural stages of a project to the smallest finishing details, Ian has the ability, experience, and attention to detail needed to help build exceptional homes and remodels.

Outside of work, Ian and his wife Heidi, who owns her own interior design company, enjoy everything that comes with living in Tahoe. Along with their two dogs, they spend their free time skiing, biking, and taking advantage of the incredible outdoor lifestyle the area has to offer.

Ian is the definition of a Tahoe local—hardworking, outdoorsy, and perfectly at home in the mountains. He enjoys a full day of physical work on the job site and a quiet evening relaxing at home with his wife and dogs.

Beyond his craftsmanship, Ian is known for something equally valuable: his kindness and patience. He is one of those rare people who brings a calm, professional, and positive attitude wherever he goes. His kindness is infectious, his work ethic is exceptional, and Bocko Construction is fortunate to have him as an important part of the team.

  • Jared Moore

    CARPENTER
    Jared@Bockoconstruction.com

Jared Moore has called Truckee home for many years, drawn to the area by the mountains, outdoor lifestyle, and strong sense of community. After graduating from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Jared made his way to Tahoe to pursue the mountain life he loves.

An avid skier, Jared spent many years working at the local ski resorts, including time on ski patrol and in other roles supporting mountain operations. Like many longtime Tahoe locals, he built his life around the outdoors and the community of friends who share his passion for skiing, adventure, and everything the Truckee/Tahoe area has to offer.

For more than four years, Jared has worked alongside Tomas, learning the construction trades through hands-on experience in the field. As Bocko Construction's carpenter in training, he continues to develop his skills across multiple areas of residential construction while gaining valuable experience from the talented craftsmen around him.

Jared has embraced the challenge of learning new trades and takes pride in helping deliver the quality work Bocko Construction is known for. His willingness to learn, strong work ethic, and growing knowledge make him an important part of the team and an exciting part of the company's future.

Just as importantly, Jared brings a strong connection to the younger Truckee community. His relationships and deep roots in the local lifestyle help keep Bocko Construction connected to the next generation of Tahoe homeowners, workers, and community members. We are proud to have Jared on our team and look forward to watching his skills, experience, and career continue to grow.

  • Aiden Steckel

    Carpenter
    Aiden@bockoconstruction.com

Aiden Steckel may be one of the newest and youngest members of the Bocko Construction team, but he brings a surprising amount of construction knowledge and experience with him.

Growing up on the East Coast, Aiden was raised around the construction industry. His parents owned and operated a construction company, and he spent years working alongside his father and learning firsthand what it takes to build, problem-solve, and manage a successful project.

Since graduating from college, Aiden has been following his adventurous spirit, traveling and exploring different parts of the country while deciding where he wants to put down roots. Luckily for us, Truckee was one of the places that caught his attention.

Aiden brings valuable instincts and knowledge to the job site. He has a natural ability to see what needs to be done, anticipate the next steps, and jump in wherever he is needed. His skills, positive attitude, and willingness to learn have quickly made him a valuable part of the Bocko Construction team.

Being in his twenties, Aiden also brings youthful energy, ambition, and a fresh perspective to the crew. His drive to succeed, learn, and grow are qualities we greatly appreciate.

While his adventurous side occasionally reminds us that another destination may someday call his name, we hope Truckee—and Bocko Construction—continues to be part of his journey. And if he does head out to explore the world, we hope he eventually finds his way back to the Bocko team.

    Kristi Prochazka

    OWNER/CONTROLLER
    Kristi@bockoconstruction.com

Behind every successful construction company is a lot of work that clients may never see—and Kristi Prochazka is the person helping keep it all running.

Kristi manages the behind-the-scenes operations of Bocko Construction, handling billing, accounts receivable and payable, human resources, insurance, marketing, website development, and the countless administrative details required to run a successful business. While paperwork, compliance, and spreadsheets may not be what most people dream about when starting a construction company, Kristi makes sure those important details are handled so the rest of the team can focus on building and remodeling homes.

Kristi's connection to Truckee and Tahoe began long before she lived here. Growing up, her family regularly vacationed in the area, where she developed her love for skiing and the mountains. After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, she met her future husband, Tomas, while traveling through New Zealand. Together, they eventually made Truckee their home.

Kristi spent many years working in the ski industry before dedicating her time to raising their two children and managing their busy travel hockey schedules, which took the family to rinks across the country.

Now, with her children older, more independent, and one attending college overseas, Kristi has turned her focus toward helping Tomas grow Bocko Construction.

Kristi sees herself as the co-pilot behind Tomas's passion for construction. While he and the team are out in the field solving problems and building homes, she keeps the business moving behind the scenes. Together, they combine their different strengths to continue growing a company dedicated to serving the community they proudly call home.
